Maureen and I live on a quiet cul de sac in Blackburn Hamlet, a suburb of the city of Ottawa. Our home is a comfortable, 2100 square foot two storey, with three bedrooms and a den. We have internet access, satellite TV and air conditioning. Our neighbours are helpful and friendly. A short walk brings you to stores, restaurants, parks and a swimming pool. Downtown Ottawa is a fifteen drive. However, if you do not care for city driving, a good public transit system is available.Ottawa is a clean, safe and affluent city with numerous green spaces. A TV commentator once described Ottawa as "a reasonably large city in a huge park." Our region is ideal for hiking, camping, swimming, canoeing, skiing and golfing. Further, as the nation's capital, the city caters to tourists with respect to tours, museums, art centres, theatres, festivals, Parliament Buildings, a colourful downtown market and much more.
We are retired teachers, non smokers and without pets. Both of us enjoy skiing and golfing. We find Ottawa ideal for these hobbies with several fine downhill and cross country ski areas and approximately forty golf courses within a one hour drive. The U.S. is one hour away, while Montreal is two, Toronto five and Niagara Falls six.
We like to travel and have made six house exchanges through INTERVAC, a large home exchange agency. This will be our first time with Seniors Home Exchange. We are amenable to a car exchange. Ours is an air conditioned 2006 Toyota Corolla. Although the number of places we hope to visit in our retirement are too numerous to list, we will consider and respond to every offer.
