We are Bill and Paula, retired
graduate engineer (P.Eng,
C.Eng) and Graduate Canadian
nurse (R.N.) respectively, are
in our late 60's, and
successfully undertook a house
swap in Scotland several years
ago and also more recently in
Ottawa; we are also non-
smokers. We are interested in a house
swap in Israel for a 3 to 4
week period sometime in 2011.
Our plans include a 17 day
overland trip from Egypt to
Jordan, ending up in Israel.
It will therefore be possible
for potential house swappers
to stay in our home for
approx. 2 weeks prior to our
arrival in Israel.
If you are not familiar with
Victoria, it is the Capital of
British Columbia located on
the southern tip of Vancouver
Island, and is considered to
have the best climate in all
of Canada. It has a large
retirement community because
of its mild climate, and is
also a very popular tourist
destination. The city is
renowned for its beautiful
gardens, and its early
blossoming flowers. (Daffodils
in January!!!) You may want to

Our home is a 3 bedroom, 1 &
1/2 bathrooms, 1913 character
home, fully restored and with
every possible modern amenity;
TV's, sterio, micro wave,
dishwasher, stove, fridge,
washer/dryer, gas BBQ etc. and
includes unlimited high speed
wireless internet access. It
is located in South Oak Bay
(considered the most desirable
area in Victoria) a 5 minute
walk to the ocean, the Marina,
the pub, and the Victoria Golf
Club. The latter is a private
club, which does allow green
fee players by appointment,
and although not a true links
course, it is often referred
to as the "Pebble Beach" of
Canada.; incidently, for the
"golfers" it is the oldest
course in Canada i.e. located
on its original site since
1893, and one of the oldest
clubs in North America. The
village of Oak Bay, with
coffee shops, wine and liquor
stores, book stores, pub,
banks, bakery, delis, grocery
store and more, is a 5 minute
drive away, while downtown
Victoria is a 10 minute drive.
We are capable and more than
willing to care for any pets.
(Paula has 2 indoor cats, but
alternative arrangements can
be made for them, if that
presented a problem)The accommodation comes
complete with daily newspaper
delivery,a gardener can be
arranged, and the use of a
2010 Lexus RX 350 automatic.
The nearest Major city is
Vancouver on the mainland, a
30 km. trip to the ferry
terminal (Swartz Bay), 1 hr.
35 minutes on the water (27
km.) and then another approx.
45 minutes to downtown
Vancouver; (Whistler/Vancouver
is the site of the 2010 Winter
Olympic Games) By air takes
about 15 minutes, and there
are several airlines offering
a multidude of schedules. We look forward to hearing
from interested "swappers" in
the very near future; we can
send you much more detailed
information, including more
photographs of our home and
the surrounding area, via the
internet.
