OUR HOME We live on a bush block of 2 hectares on the border of Canberra in the town of Queanbeyan. We are 3km from the town centre and 20 minutes to Canberra CBD by car. While our block is larger than a suburban block there is no lawn and only a small garden which needs no attention. The rest of the block has been left in its natural state to encourage the native wildlife to visit (there are many birds and a family of kangaroos which visit when they feel like it). The house has 3 bedrooms (main with king bed and A/C and a queen bed in the other with the 3rd being used as an office), a separate dining room, lounge room (with an open wood fire), family room (with a slow combustion heater) with digital TV. Next to the family room is a large kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, etc. There are 2 bathrooms (one with bath) and a separate laundry with washing machine and dryer. There is also a large miscellaneous room downstairs which has a double sofa bed. Off the family room is a sunroom. There is a deck off the laundry with clothes line and another deck off the family room with gas BBQ. We have a 2003 automatic Toyota Corolla and a 2007 automatic Hyundai Santa Fe to exchange. You would need a car as there is no public transport close to our house. Our house is a no smoking environment and we do not have any domestic animals on our block.

ABOUT CANBERRA Canberra is the national capital of Australia and is central to much of eastern Australia. It is located an easy 3-hour drive from Sydney, and 90 minutes from the beautiful south coast beaches of New South Wales and the ski fields of the Snowy Mountains. As national capital, Canberra is home to diverse national cultural institutions: National Art Gallery, Museum, Library, Archives, National Botanic Gardens, Parliament House, and War Memorial. It is a beautiful city with a population of 300,000 and abounds with entertainment, sporting and recreational facilities and is highly cosmopolitan with many ethnic restaurants, clubs and shops. Nearby are many wineries to explore. There are about 80 embassies and diplomatic missions, some of which are built in the traditional styles of their home countries. A comprehensive road network results in low density rapid access to all of Canberra and surrounding areas and bicycle/walking paths and horse trails wind through suburbs and surrounding parks and nature lands. There are three lakes with many picnic facilities and the lakes and nearby river are great places for fishing and non-motorised recreation.

ABOUT US Scott and Judy are both retired and would like to visit any part of the world. We have so far been on 3 exchanges and have enjoyed them immensely. A non-simultaneous exchange is also possible.
