Our home is in Westerly, Rhode Island. In 2002, Westerly was named one of the 12 most distinctive destinations in America. Incorporated in 1669, the town has the atmosphere of an old New England village. There are 7 miles of pristine sandy ocean beaches with all the fun sports, i.e. boating, sailing, swimming, diving and fishing. The town center is a Victorian park with churches, live theater, art galleries and shops around it. There is also hiking and biking nearby as well as 6 golf courses.
Watch Hill is part of Westerly and in the last turn of the century a destination that still has the feeling of Victorian times, with the Ocean front hotels etc. Watch Hill has the oldest flying horse carousel in America. In true New England fashion the ice cream is still made and served at a place that has been there for 140 + years.
Westerly is uniquely situated 1 and ½ hours from Boston and New York City. There is a train station in town.
Other attractions are close, Block Island is 15 minutes by plane and 1/2 hour by ferry, Mystic Seaport and Aquarium are 15 minutes away, Newport with its mansions is close by as well as more live theater and shopping in Providence about 45 minutes away. It is 8 minutes from the beaches, has a newly remodeled kitchen, 2 ½ baths (one on suite), 3 bedrooms, den, family room, living room and a dinning room with a gas fireplace. It has 2700 sq. ft. of living space. Cable TV and high speed internet are included. There is a lovely patio, a front porch and a secluded back yard. The floors are hardwoods, no pets and non smokers only. Car exchange can be arranged.
