I am a retired single woman,(non-smoker) looking for an exchange in the Puget Sound area, the closer to Seattle the better. I have a beautiul 2-bedroom, 2 bath home, wonderfully furnished single story home located minutes from the centro district of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. Home features modern kitchen with granite counter tops, open floor plan, 12 bovedas, 6 cupulas, lots of light throughout with view of the mature garden from almost every room. The oversized master bedroom features a small kitchen area with its own refrigerator and cook top and separate entrance. The large outdoor sala provides a cool respite on warm days. The neighborhood is well established and safe and there is gated covered parking. Car exchange (2000 Mazda MPV) may be possible. San Miguel is a city of about 100,000 situated at an elevation of 6,200'. The climate is mostly spring like year round with over 350 days of sunshine with average temperatures in the 70's and 80's. About 10% of the population of San Miguel are expatriates who bring with them all their talents and skills. This makes San Miguel one of the most interesting ex-patriate communities that I know of. The community is full of wonderfully interesting people, artists, musicians, actors, writers, etc. They are highly involved with volunteer organizations, most of which they are started. There are over 100 volunteer organizations that include scholarships for needy Mexicans, feed the hungry, children's and women's medical support, etc. which are provided to the local Mexicans and the communities surrounding San Miguel. The gringo community is primarily liberal so the English Library (2nd largest in all of Latin America) offers films and discussions on current and/or controversial subjects and events. It is a town where you have instant friendships and opportunities for social interaction and lots of entertainment and fabulous restaurants. It is also home to the outstanding Warren Hardy Spanish School. As previously stated, I am looking for a long-term home exchange in the Pacific Northwest and can be flexible about the time period.
