The Hinterland is one of the Gold Coasts best kept secrets. Our beautiful new home is at the base of the Tambourine Mountains. Here you have the best of both worlds, enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise or travel 20 minutes by car to be at the centre of the action and the many attractions on offer at Surfers Paradise.Right in the middle of Surfers Paradise you have several long sandy beaches to choose from. You can choose calm protected waters for swimming or there are the surf beaches Surfers Paradise is famous for.
Going up the mountain, 5 minutes from your door, is a winery offering generous tastings and is a good spot for breakfast or lunch. Further up the mountain you come to Tambourine Village where you can easily spend an afternoon browsing the many handicraft shops on the main street. Other attractions on your “must see” list would include a visit to the Cheese Factory, an hour or two exploring the Glow Worm Caves and an adventurous walk through the rain forest on a platform swung high above the tree canopy.
Going down the mountain you are 10 minutes from four of the Gold Coast’s most popular “Worlds”. First is The Outback Spectacular then Warner Bros Movie World, both worth a visit. For the young at heart Water World and Dream World provide plenty of excitement. No matter what your age a visit to Sea World at Surfers Paradise is a must. Here you can spend the day visiting the huge variety of marine animals local to Australian Waters. You can even book ahead and arrange to swim with the dolphins or if you are brave enough, swim with the sharks. This is an unforgettable experience.
The weather in the Gold Coast is excellent and as we like to say here “Beautiful one day, Perfect the Next”. Best months to visit are February through to November (it gets hot around Christmas).
Both Surfers and Mount Tambourine offer a wide range of world class restaurants with all types of cuisine catered for. We are 45 minutes from Coolangatta Airport and 1hour from Brisbane Airport. Access to Brisbane is by freeway and you can be in Queensland’s beautiful capital city within an hour.
Our new home offers 4 bedrooms; the master bedroom has a King Size bed, and a large ensuite with bath/shower/toilet. There is also a separate toilet and guest bathroom with bath and shower. We have 2 media rooms both with large plasma TV’s and a formal sitting room and dining room. The well equipped, ultra modern kitchen has a double oven, convection microwave and dishwasher. There is a separate laundry with washing machine and dryer and the office has high speed internet access. The Alfresco is enclosed and features a Pizza Oven, BBQ and outdoor Kitchen. This area is covered and there is an outdoor setting for 8 where you can enjoy the gentle water fall and many tropical plants. We are a retired couple in our early 60’s (my husband from Electrical Engineering, myself from Marketing). We are looking to exchange with a like minded couple who will treat our new home with the same respect we promise to treat theirs. We would prefer a long term exchange( 1 to 3 months) in France or Italy sometime during February to November 2011 but we are very flexible and would definitely consider America or Canada.
