Come and experience beautiful Port Macquarie! It is a wonderful place to live, with an equitable climate, pretty surroundings and unspoiled beaches within seven minutes’ stroll. The water is warm enough to swim at the beach from October to May!I am Maureen, a woman in my early sixties, now almost retired from high school teaching. It is possible that my youngest sister, Monica, who is a home-care nurse, might accompany me on an exchange.
My home is quite large, with a lounge, dining, family room, open-plan kitchen, five bedrooms and three bathrooms. It’s an air-conditioned, comfortable, light and airy house that sleeps eight people. The verandah looks out onto a native garden that attracts birdlife.
It is five minutes by car to the CBD of Port Macquarie, or a good walk if you like to stroll past numerous beaches along Pacific Drive.
Port Macquarie itself is a popular tourist destination, with many attractions on offer to visitors (see http://www.hastings.nsw.gov.au/www/ html/7-home-page.asp ). Being half-way between Sydney and Brisbane makes it an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding areas and the hinterland.I have a well-loved dog that sleeps on the verandah and comes into the family room when invited. She would love to travel with me, or would be happy with a pet-swap. Alternately, my son and his family in Sydney could look after her. If you would like to bring your dog, we have two beautiful beaches close by where you can allow your dog to run off-lead or swim with you.
Living in a small cul-de-sac means my house is very quiet, and I have wonderful neighbours who would be happy to meet you. My home is well cared -for and very important to me. I would look after your house with the same care as I give my own.
I would love to swap with people in Australia in 2010 and with people in Europe in 2011.
