Perched between the Daintree
Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef,
our Balinese-inspired timber house
sits on 3 acres. There are no neighbours to be seen
and the only noise is generally from
the birds.
The two main bedrooms have ensuite
bathrooms and king sized beds.
The 10m x 10m combined kitchen,
living and dining area takes up most of
the middle storey. There is a 50-inch
flat screen TV in the living area and
the bedrooms also have their own TV.
There is a deep cool plunge pool.
We are looking to exchange cars, and
will include our Subaru Forester 2007,
automatic.
Sorry but our home is not suitable for
children or pets or smokers.
We live fifteen minutes’ drive from Port
Douglas, a charming resort village and
the departure point for visits to the
Great Barrier Reef. Four Mile Beach is
excellent for long walks, swimming,
sunbaking and even kite surfing.
We are seven minutes from the small
sugar-cane town of Mossman and the
Mossman Gorge with its rainforest
walks.
Port Douglas has many good
restaurants and cafes, mostly
reasonably priced, and a colourful
Sunday cotters’ market. Mossman has
three restaurants and a Saturday
market where locals bring their
tropical fruit, flowers and vegetables to
sell.
Our home is the ideal base for day
trips to the Great Barrier Reef, the
Rainforest and the Tablelands, where
coffee is grown. Cairns, one hour’s
drive away along the magnificent
coastal road, has shopping malls,
theatres, cinemas and an international
airport.
We would like to stay between London,
Southampton and Brighton. We have a
family wedding near Dorking in June
2011.
This is one of the best times to visit
the tropics because of the low
humidity.
We are John and Pam - John is a
former television journalist and Pam
worked in the film industry. Now we
are semi-retired, John is involved with
the Port Douglas theatre and Pam has
written three local history books. We
have family in Wiltshire and Surrey and
frequently visit the UK.
